When using for the first time, trim the wick to 1/4 inch (cotton wicks) and allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is melted (maximum of 4 hours). trim the wick again before each subsequent use. It is very important to refocus the wick after using the candle (when the wax is still melted) to avoid cracking the glass.
